Are there times in your life, and in each year, when it feels you are retreating, going subterranean, struggling with challenges, releasing, consolidating, considering? Those are the times and energies of transformation, whether welcome or not, which reflect personal, seasonal, and life-cycles of descent and renewal.

There are, no doubt, also times where you blossom, embrace your sensuality and sexuality, claim your authority and wisdom, honor your children (human, animal or energetic), and times of righteous anger.

Goddess Inanna, whose texts were discovered less than a century ago, shows us a full range of womanhood, unlike some of the more compartmentalized goddesses or semi-divine women of more recent history. The hymns to Inanna are stark and raw in ways that are startling. They will communicate to your unconscious world, potentially offering you new symbols in your dreams and waking life for personal, communal, and perhaps even societal growth. You will interact with these symbols and themes in different ways each weak, possibly acting out each others’ dreams, engaging imaginatively through individually-oriented exercises, and even creating new rituals of your own.

Jung speaks of the importance of staying in touch with one’s personal myth. What is your living myth which is alive and present for you right now? And how can the culturally, and literally, buried myth of Goddess Inanna, and the evolving myths and symbols in you, inspire you in your own journey? I am excited to find out! I hope you are too!
